 DAY
1 - Welcome to Newport, Rhode Island
Welcome to Newport and celebrate this Christmas
season in the grand fashion! On our way into Newport,
we'll visit the Newport Winery and sample some of
the award winning wines and enjoy the wonderful
romance of wine making. Then, check into our Newport
hotel for the next two evenings. Take some time
to relax and freshen up before visiting one of Newport's
Grand Mansions for a festive holiday tour followed
by a savory dinner. (D)
DAY 2 - Christmas in
Newport with the Mansions
Following breakfast at our hotel, we'll depart
on a guided tour of Newport and along the Ten
Mile drive. Step back in time to the opulent era
of the gilded age where elite families such as
the Vanderbilt's and Astor have built their "summer
cottages" to retreat from the city life.
We'll journey along the Ten Mile drive viewing
many of these magnificent mansions as decorated
for the holiday Season! Following our tour, we'll
take some time to tour through one of these exquisite
mansions in all their holiday glory. Enjoy some
free time for shopping and lunch on our own. This
afternoon, Mrs. Caroline Astor requests the pleasure
of your company at the Astors' Beechwood. In honor
of the season, this beautiful home is transformed
into a winter wonderland. Celebrate Victorian
traditions, brush up on your waltz, play parlor
games and learn the art of flirtation. A very
special evening is planned for us! Enjoy an early
dinner before we spend a 'Holiday Evening at the
Breakers'. Enjoy live holiday music, elegant refreshments
and stroll the house at our leisure. Thousands
of poinsettia plants, spectacular evergreens,
trees and wreaths, fresh flowers and 19th century-style
ornaments will adorn this 'summer cottage'. (B,

DAY 3 - Departure
After breakfast, we'll enjoy some free time along
the waterfront for some holiday shopping at the
many fine shops, boutiques and galleries that
Newport has to offer. Then we begin our journey
home, taking with us many fond memories of Christmas
in Newport! (B)
